Background on the Author

The book RULES was written by Cynthia Lord. Cynthia is the loving mother of two beautiful children and one of them has autism.Cynthia said,"I wrote Rules to explore some of my own questions about living with some one who sees the world differently than what I do,but also to show full experience of family life with a child with Autism: the happy moments,the heartbreaking ones,and the ones that make you laugh."Cynthia Lord used to be a teacher.She was also a behavioral specialist too and now she is a bookseller.Cynthia lives in Maine with her husband and her kids.Rules was Lords first book she had written.Cynthia Lord has received so many awards for her book Rules including Newbery Honor Medal, Schneider Family Book Award, Mitten Award,Great Lakes Great Books Award, Maine Student Book Award, Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award,Kentucky Bluegrass award, Great Stone Face Award, and a Buckeye Children's Award.Cynthia Lord also has two more books that come out in 2010 including Hot Rod Hamster coming in February 2010 and Touch Blue that's coming in September 2010.
